The Myers' Get A Puppy!

When we first got married, we brought home a stray boy yorkie. He was scruffy, wild & not a puppy like we thought. After 8 months of having him, we decided to find him another home. It wasn't that we couldn't handle a dog the first time around, but we just didn't make him a priority like we should have, and lived in an apartment. We made a LOT of mistakes with our first experience of being dog owners, and we had more failures in it than success, but we learned!

Two years later, we are ready to try this whole dog thing again! We are trying to be prepared & educated. Pinterest has taught me so much! We've purchased a legit dog crate for her to sleep in at night. In fact, we've purchased a LOT for her, and we still don't get her for two more weeks! :) I've been trying to clean every inch of our home extra close to make sure she won't get into anything. I feel like I'm puppy nesting, haha.

Jearen called me one Friday and at the end of the conversation he mentioned us getting a dog. I haven't talked about a dog in a LONG time (the only time I mentioned it was when we were putting our hardwood floors down). He was pretty set on getting a girl labordoodle, and I just thought it was the sweetest thing. Over the weekend we talked about all of the pros/cons and I had several doubts (just being honest) but his desire for this dog just cancelled my doubts.

We picked the name Maggie because Jearen grew up with a dog named Maggie, and I wanted to keep it in the family. We picked her out last Friday night, and are enjoying all of our time before we officially become a family of 3 ;)!

Any suggestions, encouragement or advice would be great for us with raising this little gal. It's going to be hard work, but I'm excited to have another chance to be the best puppy mom I can be.

Counting down till she's home!

Zac Brown Band Concert!

As soon as the tickets were purchased, I looked forward to this concert! I knew some ZBB songs from the radio, but didn't purchase my first cd of theirs until Easter (part of Jearen's Easter basket that I gave him!) You Get What You Give is such a good album. Thanks to my friend Serena, we were able to get the other two albums to catch up before the concert. The music was so good, and it was a blast being their with our friends, Chase, Serena, Nick & Tiff, but I'll be honest, the crowd (from where we stood) was disappointing.

Don't get me wrong, it was PACKED, but we sat on the lawn and it seemed like we were stuck in high school at a football game. You know what I'm talking about...where everyone stands around to socialize and hang all over each other. Where the guys sneak in alcohol and the girls obviously did NOT dress that way when leaving the house! Yeah, we had to stand back there with that! Plus random chanting of "USA! USA! USA!" DURING the concert. (I'm patriotic, but know when to hush when someone is pouring their heart out while playing in front of thousands!) But hey, when "Chicken Fried" played, the kids stopped their annoying party to sing along. To which point we say "Hey, welcome to the CONCERT!" HAHAHA. Oh man! We have another concert to attend on the lawn in June (MUMFORD & SONS!) but after that, we learned our lesson: either get there EARLY to sit up closer on the lawn OR pay the extra $ for an actual seat!

GRAND CANYON SURPRISE!

After a wonderful vacation in Vegas, the long trek back home began on Monday around 2 PM. Jearen had to drive a 16 ft truck, but to my surprise it wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. After several hours we were in Arizona, and just trucking along (literally). I asked Jearen what he wanted to do that evening in Flagstaff, since that's where I THOUGHT we were going. Turns out, Jearen had a different plan. He turned down this road, and I finally caught on to where we were going. We stopped to get gas out in the middle of no where, and then tried to beat the sun to the Grand Canyon so we could catch the sunset. I've never really had a "bucket list" or anything to that nature, but as soon as I knew where we were going, I kept saying over and over how I really wanted to go there and was SO excited! We pulled up, paid our vehicle fee, and parked the truck. Within five minutes, the sun went down and we barely caught a picture of it. Regardless, being out on the Grand Canyon, just after the sun went down, with my husband, was PURE BLISS! I felt like I was living a once in a lifetime dream, but it was reality! Since it was nighttime, we booked a hotel a few miles down the road, where all the other tourists stay. There was several hotels and restaurants. We got our room and then walked over to the Yippie-Ie-O Steakhouse. Dinner was good, and we were surrounded by people speaking several different languages. My coffee was served in a mason jar, and I had a deep conversation with my husband. My love tank was overflowing. The next morning we woke up at 6 am to catch the sunrise. It was spectacular. Two hours, many pictures, and several kisses later, it was time to head out. The pictures will speak for themselves. I am honored to be married to such a sweet and giving man. I know that coming out here required extra driving, and I'm so glad he did that for us. This was a trip I will always remember! Thanks again for this journey, babe!

Myers' Vegas Vacation

I should probably make it clear from the get go that this wasn't technically a vacation for Jearen. I was lucky enough to have my boss approve me to take off two days of work BEFORE Spring Break began. This however, was a work trip for my husband, and that is exactly what he did. I will try to keep this post brief, but with the amount of pictures I want to show, we shall see how that goes, haha. I left Dallas Love Field Wednesday night on my own. I am a sucker for anything "sky" so seeing a beautiful sunset in Dallas and beautiful lights flying into Vegas made my heart happy!

Jearen picked me up from the airport & we cruised the streets of Vegas. My first take of this city was that it didn't seem real. I felt as if I had been strolling through a carnival, with all the lights, attractions & people. We ate dinner at Max Brenner's Chocolate by the Bald Man in Caesar's Palace, and the dessert was sooo good!

Thursday was a full day spent at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

That evening we had a date at a restaurant called Simon at the Palms. We enjoyed steak & seabass (not me of course! I'm not a seafood lovin' gal), followed by a dessert plate that included cotton candy!

Friday was a rainy day at the track, and left us with not a lot to do. Saturday was a fun day. I got to see the beginning of the race with Jearen on some VIP level area, ran into Kid Rock & Jimmy Johnson, and spent the day admiring how hard my husband works.

That evening we took a few hours to walk around the strip. I LOVED the fountains at the Bellagio, and felt like a little kid as I squealed and awed at the show! We walked through several hotels and had lots of fun taking pictures. Prior to the trip I had several friends tell me that they couldn't wait to see pictures because they were going to live vicariously through me, but I have to disappoint some, and say we DID NOT GAMBLE. Not once, not even the penny slots. It just isn't our thing and is not how we want to spend our money, and we are ok with that :). So for those of you hoping I'd be bringing back the Benjamins, sorry! We had dinner that night at The Sugar Factory, which was basically like a loud club that served food, haha. Jearen loved it, and I'll admit...after a few minutes of getting over how loud it was, I enjoyed it too.

Sunday, oh Sunday. That was a BUSY day at the race track, with the final race going on. I had become quiet the goofball around Jearen, and especially when I'm around Nascar fans. I had a blast being around my husband for an entire week and I was glad to keep him company.

Hope you come back for one heck of a surprise from my husband....a trip to the GRAND CANYON!! :)

Valentine's Day!

I looked forward to this day for so long. After planning ideas on Pinterest, I finally took out a pen & paper, and mapped out what I would be doing for Jearen this year for Valentine's Day. I must be a party planner deep at heart, because I loved getting all the details nailed down and figuring out ways to make each thing special.

This year I made clues that lead to four rooms in our house. Being that we bought our house back in July, I wanted to incorporate it into the date. Last year I transformed our little apartment patio, so having an entire house to decorate was so exciting to me.

For dinner I made buffalo chicken sliders from a recipe on allrecipes.com. It was DELICIOUS and my husband told me I needed to make this a staple in our dinner menu. That alone made me feel like a champ! We played The Newlywed Game thanks to a free printable online. Then I showered him with a few gifts, including a photobook I made online and ended the night watching a movie on Netflix.

I loved doing all this for my man. I got so giddy to surprise him with a night at home. I felt so loved just knowing what a great man he has always been to me. I wasn't expecting any gifts or flowers, but this sweet guy surprised me with a Diana F+ lomography camera. HE was so excited for me to has this camera. He is such a good gift giver.

Now that Valentine's is over, my goal is to continue to do sweet surprises for Jearen just because! Thank goodness for Pinterest! Always keeping me on my toes to be creative!
