My Kitchen Has The Blues.

Did I say my kitchen has the blues?! Not the sad & frown kind of blues, but the happy & cheery kind of blues! Having a blue kitchen has been something I have wanted for a VERY long time, and I'm so glad to finally have it. The nice thing about this kitchen is all the hard work the previous owner put into it: painted cabinets, tiled floors, new appliances, track lighting, granite countertops. We pretty much had it made when we moved in!

I am excited to cook in this kitchen! It is spacious and so much easier to clean than our apartment!
Hope you can come share a meal with us!!

Living Room!

Hey Y'all!
Hope everyone has been wonderful and inspired to decorate on the cheap, since that's how I do! The living room is all decorated and would have been posted with pictures sooner, but I was hesitant of posting since we are about to remove the carpet for hardwood floors within the next few weeks. This room was the first room we painted the day we closed on our house, and I was such a happy camper to get a paint roller to these white walls. The walls are Chateau by Behr, but the mantle (which I am THRILLED about) was kept white for some pop in the room. This room is cozy, and was almost a selling point for us (in a negative way). We knew how much smaller it was compared to our apartment living room, but the rest of the place won us over, and we downsized from having two couches & a chair to just one couch. Like I said, it's cozy :) But it's the perfect size for the two of us, and guest can hang out in the dining room, since that's where the good stuff is (the food!)

Hello, fireplace! I hope I can light you up this Winter! :)
The background picture was one of my favorite antique shopping finds when I went with my friend Lindsay around the time I was turning 25! We found this at a little hole in the wall, and she talked me in to buying it! Best $24 dollars spent for this mantle! The tiles were purchased months ago at a flea market in Hurst ($2.75 total) and it's our anniversary date!

Sherry bought me a bag full of M's for my 25th birthday, and this one I painted red & added white swirls!

Thanks to my friend Sarah (who did all the flower arrangements at my wedding), I was able to keep my flowers to remember that special day :)!

I added some other colors up there so it wasn't overboard w/ the red & teal. The yellow flowers are from TJMaxx, blue candle from a thrift store for $1 & brown crate from a flea market for $3.

That's all folks!
P.S- If anyone has a question about where to go thrifting, the story behind something, or any other suggestions, let me know! I never really know what to say about my home, haha, so input would be good!

Jearen's Family Weekend

This past weekend, Jearen and I met up at his grandparent's cabin in Glen Rose for their 24th annual Hawkins Family Reunion (his grandparents on his mom's side). We were greeted by familiar faces & warm hugs. The two days we were there was filled with football games by the river, basketball games, ping pong, yummy food, long chats & catching up, DUBLIN Dr. Pepper (which made me a happy camper :) haha), and of course, lots of lots of family. Every year they hold an auction to raise money towards the funds of the reunion. Everyone brings items they either don't want anymore from their house, or things specifically for this auction. Jearen & I brought our old printer, a ripstick, and old tennis shoes...Hey, we figured it could sell for a few bucks and go towards the cause (oh, and clear out some space in a closet!) The auction is always fun, and this year was no exception... mind you, this was only my 2nd year to attend, since last year at this time we were on CRUISE! We won this Texas sign & you better believe we are going to hang it on our fence with pride!

The next day, Jearen had the honor of speaking to his family at their church service on the camp grounds. I always love hearing Jearen speak, but there is something special when you get to hear your spouse speak about his testimony to all of his extended family. It is a big deal and very humbling in my opinion. He spoke with ease and had many of us teary eyed. I'm not gonna spill his life story on here for ya, but I'm sure if you ever had the chance to ask him about it, he would tell you in a heartbeat :)! God has done some INCREDIBLE things in this man's life, and God deserves all the praise!

Immediately following the service, and taking some group photos (which I do not have, opps) we headed straight back to the Metroplex for the other event of the weekend: Myers' August Birthday Celebrations.
We drove to Jearen's Uncle's House in Carrollton where the party was being held. Again, we were greeted with warm hugs and lots of love. After we ate, we had birthday cake & the birthday folks received some presents! Jearen's grandma (Nana), his Uncle T & Jearen himself were the guests of honor. It was a great couple of hours.

**Right before we left, Jearen's granddad (Grandaddy as we Myers' call him) came over to me where I was talking with Nana, grabbed my hand, and told me how proud we was of me and how much he loves having me in the family. It was such a sweet moment for me, since I grew up not having granddads. I felt so stinkin' loved!**

All the boys w/ Nana & Grandaddy :)

Cherish the moments you have with your family!

You're Beautiful

Do you ever find yourself just in awe of something pretty? To some women, it's shoes or a sparkling ring or even another women's hair (because who doesn't want good hair, I mean come on!) For guys, even though I wouldn't necessarily say they would use the word pretty, they can be in awe of a new fast car or how fast a man can run or a snow covered mountain they want to conquer. All these things, places, and people are pretty. But sometimes it's nice to give recognition to THE man who is the creator of all things pretty.

God is the source of all things that are beautiful, awe inspiring, enchanting, breath taking. Yet, how often do we stop and tell him so. Do you stop when you are driving down the road at 7 am to tell God how beautiful His sunrise is?! Or look at an ocean and be amazed at how it has life under the water?! There are SO many things that we can say are beautiful. I can't help but smile every time I see a pretty skyline :)

As a woman, I love hearing those words "You're Beautiful." I believe everyone wants to hear those words. When God created each and everyone of you, he believed you were beautiful, even in the womb! Kinda crazy to think of, right?! Ecclesiastes 3:11 says "He has made everything beautiful in its time." I didn't plan on this post being about two different things, but it's turning out that way.

1. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. If you are reading this and don't believe it, say it out loud & let it soak in. Beauty is not just for the skinny, the tanned, the talented, or the rich. Beauty is YOURS because Christ has given it to you. So receive it! Don't let others tell you different. Don't let your MIND tell you different, because I've been there, and it's ridiculous. Take control of your thoughts & begin believing what God has to say about you..."you are the apple of his eye"

2. TELL GOD "YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!" We all have things we are thankful for, and sharing those things with God brings him joy. Whether it's a child he's blessed you with, a spouse, a job, a friend who has taught you a lesson, grace, even shade in the heat, there is something to thank God for. And isn't that something that is beautiful?! He has blessed us with so many different things, and each one holds its own beauty. So God, I just want to tell you how beautiful YOU are, and how beautiful all the things in my life are because of YOU.

Be blessed my beautiful friends!

Divine Dining Room!

Hello again! Maybe I should have titled this Design on a dime, instead of divine. Oh well! I hope you are enjoying reading & seeing pictures of my home decorating. I know I tend to repurpose things A LOT, and I am an avid goodwill/thrift store purchaser. Hopefully this is inspiring you to go out & look at your local resale shops. It is cheaper for starters to find pieces you can add to your decor. It can also bring in a lot of unique items that not everyone else has. This room was put together within hours. I was bored yesterday, and tired of waiting for our carpet to get replaced before decorating this room, so I went ahead and did it. I'm sure glad I did. I CAN NOT WAIT to have our friends and family over for dinner soon. There is just something about sharing a meal, laughing, telling stories & being in each other's company that warms my heart! Feel free to ask questions, leave comments, etc. :)
Top Shelf: tea pots & gravy pourer were all thrifted. Red cup is from our cruise to Mexico & picture in red frame (that I painted) is of the greatest friends & I celebrating my 25th birthday!
Middle Shelf: All mason jars were thrifted cheap. The sign was a gift from my mom when I first got married (cause I knew NOTHING about cooking! LOL) The red butter dish is Fiesta & a gift from my step mom :)
Bottom Shelf: All my cookbooks! Some were gifts, some I thrifted, some I bought full price. The white dish is from my mother in law.

Isn't this piece cute! I love how it turned out! The silver bowl & silver plate were both thrifted, and there are the other two birds I have that match the one in my bedroom. I still need something on the wall though!

The place to come & eat! The mirror you see use to be white. It was my birthday gift from Jearen many years ago, and he made it himself! It has a B <3 J on the bottom of it. When we first got our apartment I painted it black.

My quick center piece- two place mats on top of each other & some candles. Easy Breezy!

Top Left: When Jearen proposed to me. He hired our friend who is a photographer to be there snapping away the whole thing. I'm so glad he did that, along with popping the question ;)
Top Right: Me & my siblings! Love them!
Bottom Left: Our engagement photos- this one is in Ft. Worth's Public Library...still a favorite!
Bottom Right: Me, Jearen, His Dad & Step Mom & three younger brothers at The Nutcracker :)

This piece of furniture use to be in our living room, but our new living room is a lot "cozier", haha, so we had to find a new spot for him. The picture is of Jearen's FIRST weekend in Stephenville (meet my friends, my folks, etc). I would normally have napkins in that cute fork & spoon holder, but I ran out :/
We bought the lamp a year or so ago from Home Depot.

Top Right: Me, Jearen & My Mother In Law at a Ranger's Game for my 24th birthday.
Top Left: Collage I made Jearen for our first anniversary of dating.
Bottom Left: Still needing to print a newer photo of my Dad & I, but for now, our first Rodeo picture will do :) haha
Bottom Right: Another favorite in Sundance Square from our Engagement Photos

Office Makeover

Let's talk about LOVE. I just LOVE this room. From the moment we moved furniture into this room, I was hooked. I just want to hang out in here all day, and I probably will before I go back to work in a few weeks. The walls are painted "Bon Voyage" by Behr. It looks darker in person than in the following pictures...I know it looks kind of baby blue in the pictures, but I PROMISE, it is not. This room is our office/guest room. I love decorating with things we already have, so everything in this room was things we already owned.

The picture above the couch is of the Brooklyn Bridge (born in Brooklyn) and was given to me from my older sister. The couch J & I found last year & adopted it (free of course) haha. The wooden holder was a wedding gift.

Ahh, my favorite piece. The dresser was mine from high school and was a light wood. Jearen stained the whole thing  cherry wood and even though it still needs work (not all the drawers work like they use to & we need to buy new hardware) I still love how it turned out. Very aged and unique. I mod-podged the two frames a few years back with some scrapbook paper. I bought the old medal basket for $1 at a flea market & I'm so happy I found a place to put him.

The three silver diamonds use to be white, when I bought them for $1.25 each at goodwill. If you can't tell by now, I love that store! I spray painted them silver and it became instant art for my wall.

In the corner is a mail station. Well that's what it was bought for (when my brother & his wife bought it), but when it was given to us, it became our library :). And Jearen's golf clubs need a new resting spot, but they are here for now. In the frame is a few of my favorite pictures from our cruise last year! Ah, I want to go on one again!

My favorite spot. I just want to sit in this room all day & read, journal, hang out. This desk was one of the first pieces of furniture J & I bought together as a married couple, and of course it came from Goodwill for a solid $50. Jearen's handyman skills revamped this old desk into a modern & sophisticated desk. I'm pretty sure it's mid-century modern, but haven't done enough research to know :) The silver tray was just laying around at my Dad's house, so he let me take it home with me. The lamp shade is from Target.

The framed flowers are from Home Goods. The white shelf is from TJMaxx. The silver plated M is from Sample House. Don't ya just wanna sit here & read?!

Hope this room inspired you to make some coffee & grab a good book ;)!!

Stay tuned for more from The Myers' Home!

Home Owners!

Hello friends & family! As many of you already know, Jearen and I bought a house over a week ago. It has been a DREAM of mine since I was a kid to have a house to decorate, entertain in, the whole nine yards. We were very happy to have the help of friends & family paint our new place, as well as move our stuff over from the apartment (that we happily enjoyed our first two years of marriage in!) We moved to Irving, in a cute condo with a cute neighborhood. Personally, when we began our home search, I never even thought of a condo. But had we not opened up that option, I don't think we would have gotten to experience such a blessing that this condo is. It is the perfect size for us, and more that I could have imagined! I am so happy to have Jearen share this home-ownership journey with me (and yes, it has already been a journey... since we have already had the pleasure of flooding some of our dining room & living room thanks to an old water pipe that busted...on the FIRST day of us living there!) Haha, I can laugh now, but those 20 minutes were intense & as every one has joked with us "Welcome to owning a Home!" Moving on to the great stuff, the decorating! Today I will share our bedroom makeover with you. We painted the walls "Cathedral Gray" by Behr.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

This little gem was created on our one year anniversary. I wrote 100 things I loved about Jearen & framed it with some of my favorite engagement pictures.

The bed is from Ikea, the bedding is from TJMaxx (found the same duvet cover at Bed, Bath & Beyond for 4x the price!) The window is from my parents garage & was already chipped with white paint. I spray painted the shutters (bought for $5 at a yard sale) and scratched them up with sand paper. Our night stands were spray painted black after we bought them at BB&B on clearance :) The lamps & blue pillows were from Target.
View from Door- I just love how it has turned out!

Different angle of bed. The shelf on the right was given to me (used) so I painted it the same gray as the dresser. The silver frame (still needing a picture) was bought from Goodwill for $1 (and it's Kate Spade!), the black frame has pictures of our honeymoon, and that is a little white bird hanging from the shelf that I  bought for $4 at a homegood store in Marble Falls.

Our dresser was bought at a goodwill last year, and Jearen & I sanded it, painted it & spray painted the hardware (saved money). I think we spent $30 on the dresser & $30 for all paint & work. The mirror on top came with the dresser, so we painted it black. The silver tray was bought at goodwill for $3 and little vase was a gift a few years back.

The cross on the left was made by my Dad. The bench was purchased at Garden Ridge MANY years ago, haha, and I am hoping to recover it very soon, so until then I have a blue, black & white checkered scarf covering it.

Come back tomorrow for our OFFICE reveal :)!!
