Memorial Day Weekend!

A couple of months ago, I called up my dad who has a beach house in Palacious, TX and told him Jearen & I wanted to come down for Memorial Day weekend. I put it in my calendar and it was official (anyone else feel like having things written in a calendar makes things "official"?!) Then we found out my sister's family was coming too, and I was wondering how we would all fit. Then our friends were attending a wedding in Houston & had the rest of the weekend free, so of course it was the perfect time for them to join us too.

I think it must be a Hansen (my maiden name) thing, but my family THRIVES off of having a lot of people around. It was seriously the perfect weekend. If we weren't fishing, we were relaxing. If we weren't snacking, we were sleeping. It was stress free. It was a weekend full of love & laughter. That is what family time is all about, and I'm so thankful to be part of a family like that. A family who welcomes anyone into their doors with an open heart & mind. Doesn't matter your background. Doesn't matter your current situation. You are welcomed. You are loved.

We fished a few times at a private pier that my parents have VIP access to. I got to reel in a 23 inch gafftop & gave him a big smooch. We found where the crabs where hiding out at (and I posted a video on Instagram: @becky_myers). We fished at night at a pier and our friend Kent caught an alligator gare. We played a lot with my niece Ava, who is a perfect doll. We drove down to Matagorda and saw the coast covered with seaweed. My brother in laws buried themselves in the sand. My dad passed out fresh watermelons to the locals at the beach because he is a social butterfly & has a kind heart (he even tried teaching a few boys how to fish). We prayed hand in hand over every meal, whether at home or at a restaurant. I'm thankful to be part of a family who prays together. I successfully did NOT get a sunburn, thanks to some 70 SPF sunblock!

I'm so glad we blocked out this weekend in our schedule for time with our family. It was perfect!!

The Myers' Celebrate One Year!

Yup, we have been married for over a YEAR now. Time has flown by, that's for sure. This past year has been the BIGGEST  BLESSING of my life! Seriously. I am absolutely in love with my husband, Jearen. He is so sweet, caring, funny, hard working, thoughtful, and in love with God that I feel so thankful. I remember before we got married that a lady in my church prayed over us, that our first year of marriage would be a great year and not a tough year like so many people claim the first year can be. That prayer was answered! Sure, I learned lots of lessons and had some days were things didn't go the way I wanted. There were days when I cried and days when I was frustrated. But those days don't even compare to all the good that this past year has brought into my life!  So much growth as individuals AND as husband & wife! There are so many days that I'm just overwhelmed by how a man could love me as much as Jearen does. I continuely stop and thank God for all he has done for us, provided for us, and loved us. As much as I would love to go on and on about what all has happend for us this past year, this post is mainly to share pictures of our One Year Anniversary Weekend, and boy was it incredible! I knew we were going to get a hotel in Downtown Dallas and hang out around there for the weekend, but Jearen went above & beyond to provide a fabulous weekend for us two love birds :)!

After church Saturday night, we drove to Dallas. We arrived at The Adolphus Hotel, which was built in 1912, and had beautiful designs both inside & outside the hotel. (We found out it is one of Dallas' most historic hotels, which famous actors/actresses stayed there back in the 20's & 30's. Queen Elizabeth even stayed there once!) The bell hop helps us unload our luggage into our room, 1901, and then asks "How come yall picked the 19th floor?!" Jearen says "We didn't. It was just what was given to us." Then the bell hop says, "Oh, well the 19th floor is known as the "Ghost" Floor. It's pretty spooky. You should google it!"... GREAT! I immedietly freak out. I don't believe in ghost, but I get spooked out still, hah. After Jearen calms me down & tells me everythings ok, we unpack our stuff. We walk around the block of the hotel taking pictures, then call it a night and head back. Jearen, thinking he would be funny, wrote on the bathroom mirror "help me" while I was in the shower, and I screamed when I saw it 10 minutes later. Like I said, I get spooked out! After being mad and not being able to sleep till 4 am because I was scared, I passed out. We had a good laugh about his prank the NEXT day. What a jokester he is!

On our anniversary, I woke up to my favorite Starbucks drink on my nightstand. Jearen walked over to the Starbucks next door and bought it for me while I was still asleep! What a Gentlemen! Then we enjoyed a nice brunch in the Bistro of the hotel, followed by movies in our room. That afternoon I let Jearen open his presents--a new Rangers hat & 100 Reasons Why I Love Him! It was such a sweet moment as he read each one aloud! Then we tried our cake from a year ago. First bite was good, then it went downhill from there, haha. Then we got all dolled up for dinner @ III Forks in Dallas. It was delicious! All the waiters kept telling us "Happy Anniversary". It was sweet. We decided after dinner to go to Target to buy a game to play, and brought back Phase 10. That game lasted about 2 hours, but it was quality time with my hubby that I wouldn't trade for the world!!

What a great year it has been, and I look forward to many many more with my handsome husband! :)
