When I was a Junior at Tarleton State University, I knew that I wanted to do more than just get a degree in Communications. As I began to pray and ask God what direction he would have me go, all I could think about was becoming a teacher. I felt confident knowing that I had some sort of direction for my life after I graduated. Being that I was almost done with my junior year, I thought about getting an alternative certification so that I would graduate on time and move on from Tarleton. I loved that school and I am thankful to have gone there with such great people, in a town I love, to create a future for myself, but anything longer than 4 1/2 years (which it took me) would have been too long.
Then some great & exciting life events took place: I got engaged, graduated, moved to Keller, TX, began working at a preschool for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, and got married. It all came fast, yet was wonderful. I was (and STILL am) a girl in love, ready to start my married life with my best friend, and getting certified to teach was put on the back burner for the time being.
Our first year of marriage was such a treasure. We made our apartment in Hurst a home. We learned more about each other. We shared many laughs and tears. We grew in our walk with the Lord. We grew as individuals. We learned responsibilities & life lessons. Too many memories to share. Yet in the first year, I'll be honest....I let fear tell me what I could and couldn't do. Rather than believing what God has for me could be tangible, I got so afraid of failure that I never pursued what I had been longing for. There were days that I was so down in the dumps because I felt like I was just wasting away my life. So back and forth I would allow my thoughts to become controlled by something so dumb..FEAR.
And now here I am, three months shy of our 2 year anniversary, and I am so done with being held back by fear!! It's still an issue in my life, but I am just praying & believing that I am making strides in the right direction! I KNOW that God has put the desire in me to become a teacher, regardless of the economy & lay offs & budget cuts. I am done with doubting and being so sensitive when someone brings up the subject with me. I am done with tearing up every time someone speaks into my life about getting certified (because I know that I've held up a guard in that area).
To be honest, I am terrified of failing at this. But like so many close to me have told me, "The least you can do is try. NOT trying is failing!"
So to those of you who have asked me, pushed me, encouraged me: THANK YOU!
I know this process won't be easy. I know I am going to have to bust my rear to accomplish this, but God is my strength and I am clinging to his word: "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you & not to harm you, to give you a future & a hope."- Jeremiah 29:11
My journey will start tomorrow: when I apply for the program to get an alternative certification.
Please keep me in your prayers!!!

Before & After: Hutch
We found this little hutch at a flea market in Burnet, TX when we went to the lake house a few weekends ago. As the boys were out exploring caves, Sherry & I were antique shopping & this was one of our finds. After sanding it down, my husband & I discovered a date on the inside where the shelf goes, dating 04/23/1934. I found that to be pretty awesome! Before Jearen left for a work trip to Vegas (I miss him terribly!), he sanded the whole piece of furniture down for me, so all I had to do was paint. One day after work I went out on the back porch, opened up the paint, and 30 minutes later (I'm guessing), it was complete (other than drying of course!) The next morning before work, I brought it inside right before it started to rain, and after putting new knobs on & some red accessories, I am completely smitten about our turquoise hutch in our dining room. So bright & fun!

THANKFUL
Not sure how time escaped me to blog, but it has. I'm well aware that I'm probably the only reader of what I write on here, but at least I can look back and remember what all has been going on in my life.
It's already the Holiday Season, and many people on facebook/twitter spent the month of November sharing what they were thankful for. I participated in 2 or 3 days, but didn't voice more of what I am utterly thankful for...so, I will do so in a blog. For the sheer fun of it.
1. I am thankful first & foremost that GOD LOVES ME. No matter the day I have, I can stop, breath, and soak in the love that He graciously gives.
2. I am thankful for a RELATIONSHIP W/ JESUS. My life would be a mess without Him, and I live to serve him.
3. I am thankful for the love of my life, JEAREN. He is the best husband/friend!
4. I am thankful for MARRIAGE. I know I'm lovey dovey, but this makes my heart so happy. What a gift!
5. I am thankful for FAMILY. My parents, my siblings, my nephew & nieces, my In-laws, and all extended family. This is a HUGE part of who I am, and I hope to pass on the importance of family to my kids one day.
6. I am thankful for FRIENDS. They have challenged, inspired, and encouraged. No matter the season, I am thankful for different people coming into my life.
7. I am thankful for GOD'S PROVISION. Never once have I had to live in poverty, without food or water, shelter, or clothes.
8. I am thankful for my APARTMENT. Seriously, God blessed us almost 2 years ago when we began looking for apartments and came across a deal that only He could have created for us!
9. I am thankful for our CHURCH. Jearen & I have been going to The Destiny Center in Haslet, TX for a few months now, and we know we are right where God wants us!
10. I am thankful to have a JOB. Period.
11. I am thankful for a CAR that gets me to & fro, with heat&air.
12. I am thankful for PHOTOGRAPHY. Having pictures to look back on really make me smile. That's why I have so many/take pictures of everything.
13. I am thankful for money to pay off STUDENT LOANS. I WILL be debt free one day, and I'm making my way there inch by inch.
14. I am thankful for LIFE. I may not always know the direction I'm going in, but that's why I'm here, to figure it out.
15. I am thankful for GOOD MUSIC. And by that, I mean mellow, make you feel good, kinda music. My dad has such an ecletic love for music, and I know I take after him in that.
16. I am thankful for MANNERS. You know, yes please, thank you, excuse me. I was taught at a young age to always say thank you at dinner time, and I will be passing that down to my kids.
17. I am thankful for PRAYERS. Prayers prayed over me, prayers I can pray over other people. Praying w/ my family when we are together. Praying over Jearen before he falls asleep. Just the meer fact that God hears us, and answers us when we call.
18. I am thankful for THE LITTLE THINGS. Coffee, singing, shopping, cleaning, reading.
19. I am thankful for HEALTH. Air in my lungs, a beating heart, seeing eyes & hearing ears.
20. I am thankful that I have this evening to RELAX! And by that, I am done with this post.
So until next time, be thankful always!

The Myers' Celebrate One Year!
Yup, we have been married for over a YEAR now. Time has flown by, that's for sure. This past year has been the BIGGEST BLESSING of my life! Seriously. I am absolutely in love with my husband, Jearen. He is so sweet, caring, funny, hard working, thoughtful, and in love with God that I feel so thankful. I remember before we got married that a lady in my church prayed over us, that our first year of marriage would be a great year and not a tough year like so many people claim the first year can be. That prayer was answered! Sure, I learned lots of lessons and had some days were things didn't go the way I wanted. There were days when I cried and days when I was frustrated. But those days don't even compare to all the good that this past year has brought into my life! So much growth as individuals AND as husband & wife! There are so many days that I'm just overwhelmed by how a man could love me as much as Jearen does. I continuely stop and thank God for all he has done for us, provided for us, and loved us. As much as I would love to go on and on about what all has happend for us this past year, this post is mainly to share pictures of our One Year Anniversary Weekend, and boy was it incredible! I knew we were going to get a hotel in Downtown Dallas and hang out around there for the weekend, but Jearen went above & beyond to provide a fabulous weekend for us two love birds :)!
After church Saturday night, we drove to Dallas. We arrived at The Adolphus Hotel, which was built in 1912, and had beautiful designs both inside & outside the hotel. (We found out it is one of Dallas' most historic hotels, which famous actors/actresses stayed there back in the 20's & 30's. Queen Elizabeth even stayed there once!) The bell hop helps us unload our luggage into our room, 1901, and then asks "How come yall picked the 19th floor?!" Jearen says "We didn't. It was just what was given to us." Then the bell hop says, "Oh, well the 19th floor is known as the "Ghost" Floor. It's pretty spooky. You should google it!"... GREAT! I immedietly freak out. I don't believe in ghost, but I get spooked out still, hah. After Jearen calms me down & tells me everythings ok, we unpack our stuff. We walk around the block of the hotel taking pictures, then call it a night and head back. Jearen, thinking he would be funny, wrote on the bathroom mirror "help me" while I was in the shower, and I screamed when I saw it 10 minutes later. Like I said, I get spooked out! After being mad and not being able to sleep till 4 am because I was scared, I passed out. We had a good laugh about his prank the NEXT day. What a jokester he is!
On our anniversary, I woke up to my favorite Starbucks drink on my nightstand. Jearen walked over to the Starbucks next door and bought it for me while I was still asleep! What a Gentlemen! Then we enjoyed a nice brunch in the Bistro of the hotel, followed by movies in our room. That afternoon I let Jearen open his presents--a new Rangers hat & 100 Reasons Why I Love Him! It was such a sweet moment as he read each one aloud! Then we tried our cake from a year ago. First bite was good, then it went downhill from there, haha. Then we got all dolled up for dinner @ III Forks in Dallas. It was delicious! All the waiters kept telling us "Happy Anniversary". It was sweet. We decided after dinner to go to Target to buy a game to play, and brought back Phase 10. That game lasted about 2 hours, but it was quality time with my hubby that I wouldn't trade for the world!!
What a great year it has been, and I look forward to many many more with my handsome husband! :)
